Resto File #4: Cleaning up electrical connectors.

I decided to do a piece showing how I clean up electrical connectors, not just for maintenance reasons, but also in the name of aesthetics…30 year old electrical connectors covered in brown grease are hardly pleasing to the eye, and as always it’s the little details that count!

In this video I tried a new technique (Vinegar and Salt), and was admittedly unsuccessful. It would appear the technique was better suited to strictly cleaning the tarnish and oxidation off of old wiring. It looks like a good technique, but I think in this case it was the wrong application.

Heres a link to the site where I found it. I think it would still be helpful in a different situation, such as prepping old wires to be soldered:

Thankfully I was able to resort to using my normal routine and achieved favorable results. I am still somewhat new to doing video so kindly ignore my plentiful supply of “Uh”s and “Um”s!

Otherwise I hope you enjoy it. My “lovely assistant” seemed rather underwhelmed by the whole process, but she just doesn’t seem to be into anything that isn’t edible anyhow.
