Reviving a classic automobile is no easy task. It takes immense preparation, hectic time management and utilizing the correct methods of craftsmanship to master. Tim Mings, aka “Merciless Wings,” is preparing to start his massive restoration on a true gem in the Honda automobile community. Meet the very first imported Honda N600, serial number one. This was the very first Honda automobile to land on US soil that would be available for retail at dealerships in 1969.
When we learned that Honda was indeed collaborating to help Tim restore the N600, we got very excited to see the two working side by side to achieve this immense goal. Today, both have officially launched the website, Serialone.com and they have released a video via Youtube that shows Tim starting the tear down process.
Last years JCCS at Longbeach California, Mings brought his little green N out to the show and we were fortunate enough to catch it on display while attending. With it’s color oddly sticking out from the luster of nostalgic Datsun’s and Toyota’s, it was parked in the back corner of the show like a fragile toy car that came out of kids toy chest. With it’s body in mediocre shape, the engine just laying in the bay and interior half in place, it really was the best piece of the show for any Honda that attended. Very few stopped by to look at it but those who knew what they were looking at it, it completely blew them away.
It looks to be both teams are taking the necessary steps to ensure this little guy is getting the right treatment so it can be showcased at a museum for future generations. Exciting times are indeed ahead for #HondaSerialOne. Stay tune for more.
