Looking at the picture, can you tell us what movie this scene is from? Yes, he’s physically driving a 2nd gen Civic, gripping the wheel and about to crash it in all Tarantino-style glory. That poor white Civic and in the clutches of a Hollywood bad-ass! It’s F@$&!g BRUCE WILLIS listening to The Statler Brothers in the 1994 cult hit “Pulp Fiction” and his character Butch isn’t exactly having a great day!
What’s interesting to note about the Civic is the directors every-day relationship with one. During multiple interviews from Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill movies, he states:
“By now dressed entirely in black, driving his clapped out Honda Civic and dining mainly at fast food emporiums like Polio Loco and Jack in the Box, Quentin fitted the role of movie nerd to perfection.”
(Quentin Tarantino: Shooting from the hip)
“While an impoverished video store clerk, the young Tarantino would drive to work in a silver Honda Civic.”
(Tarantino A to Zed: the films of Quentin Tarantino)
“Tarantino dressed mostly in black, drove a silver Honda Civic, stuffed his face with burgers, was a voracious reader of crime novels and comic books, nay, pulp fiction, loved Elvis and the Three Stooges and,…”
(Quentin Tarantino: The Film Geek Files)
Not too shabby Bruce, not too shabby for us Honda guys!
